Eleanor Oliphant is a woman who struggles with social skills and tends to say anything that pops into her head such as people's appearance. She always has a clear schedule during weekdays to avoid social interactions and on weekends it involves frozen pizza, vodka and phone chat with her mummy. Then meeting Raymond changed everything. They saved an old man, Sam, who had fallen on the sidewalk. The three of them become friends to help each other. Raymond helps Elenor on being better with her mental health.
Eleanor is known for being weird, how she talks and behaves and yet Raymound likes to spend time with her. Plus she has a project that gives her hope that would fix her relationship with her mummy by falling in love with a singer. She is doing everything she can, like dressing up and going to concerts so that the singer and Eleanor can fall in love, which would make her mummy happy.
One of my favourite quotes from this book is, "Sometimes you simply need someone kind to sit with you while you dealt with things." Eleanor has been on her own for year, since she was young she had to deal with things by herself. She then noticed after being Raymond she notices what it's like to have a friend, to have someone to be there for you.
