Chole's mom has gone on a cruise vacation with her boyfriend, she is glad to know that her daughter will be staying at her best friend's house and will be safe but it's not true. Chole has made a plan to go on a secret trip to New York to get a conservatory, as in to get a spot with Avery Johnson who happens to be a hero. However, there was a change in plans. Chole loves to dance, she has a dream of being a ballerina and believes that the best place to achieve her dreams is in New York but her mom won't allow it. She lost her dad in a car accident and it has been a year since she frustrated her ankle from a car accident, her mom wants nothing more than safety for Chole and that includes living in a city all by herself. Chole also gets nightmares, she gets scared of not getting her dreams, her mom and her best friend were the only ones who know about the nightmares.
Eli or Elijah is known as Chole's annoying neighbor, before that they used to be friends. They spent so much time together with Trey until he moved away and everything changed during the homecoming, the night Chole frustrated her ankle. And now Eli was supposed to meet his dad for a tour of law school so he has hitched the ride with Chole. Eli likes to draw, has a dream of being an artist but his dad wants Eli to follow in his footsteps to be a lawyer.
They didn't have anything in common as they used and they face challenges such as getting into accidents and trying to get along. But Chole and Eli find out the truth during the homecoming and even though they will be in different states, they keep each other happy.
'Sometimes people might believe in themselves, but it's not enough when they feel like they have support.' It shows that both Chloe and Eli have figured what they want to do in their future its not just about believing in themselves, what they really want is support from friends and family.
