Faith: Taking Flight by Julie Murphy

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I love superheroes, Iron Man, Captain America, and most of all Star-Lord because he has an awesome job of travelling in space to fight bad guys. I wish that is my job. Anyways whenever I look for a book to read, I would hope I find a superhero genre. I was so happy when I got to know about this book. Not just any superhero, a plus size girl, the kind of superhero I can relate to. So let's begin with the summary.

Faith has a normal life, she lives with her grandmother, volunteers at a local animal shelter, and has two best friends Matt and Ches there is one thing that makes her extraordinary, she can fly. Things got interesting when her favourite TV show The Groove relocated to her town, she starts to have a love interest with the TV heroine Dakota Ash also animals and people are starting to disappear and Faith wants to find the truth.

After spending the whole summer in the facility, all Faith wanted to do spend time with her friends, taking care of her grandmother and spending time with Dakota and of course, making sure nobody knows her powers. But when people and animals start to disappear, she uses her journalism skills to find the truth especially when her friend got into trouble. She even meets the person whom she has been avoiding but soon she will get to know the real reason behind the disappearance and she finds out that she needs to be the hero her town needs.

One of my favourite quotes is 'Sometimes secret superhero identities are too good not to share' this was when Faith has decided to reveal her secret to her friends Ches and Matt and I think the quote means that it is about sharing the superhero identities to the right person.

So to conclude, a girl named Faith has a superhero of flying, animals and people have started to disappear and she needs to solve the problem by being a superhero.

Here are similar books to read -

  1. Shreya, I loved reading this book review because it got me to think, how it would be for a normal human being to suddenly attain super powers. I am sure to read this book, and will let you know how I liked the book.
Your reviews are simple, to the point and the best part is the recommendations that you provide at the end, referring to books that are similar in genre.
Keep up the good work :)
