Millie Michalchuk goes to fat camp every year from the time she was young but she wants to make some changes. She has decided to chase her dreams and get her first kiss. Callie Reyes is the pretty girl, she is next in the line to be captain of the dance team and has a boyfriend who is popular. But after what she and her friends did, they turn from friends to enemies, and her life will turn upside down.
This is the second book of the Dumplin' Series, after the beauty pageant, Willowdean and her friends have been busy with their school and Millie missed having a group together so she has pulled them together to have a sleepover every once in a while. Along with that Millie had a dream of being in journalism and having a boyfriend, both of which her mother won't approve but Millie wanted to change herself and won't let anyone in her way including the fact that she is a plus size girl.
Callie has so much passion for dancing, she has been loyal to the dance team. They all shared secrets, they hang out as friends. They have learned that the budget will go to the football and not to the dance team and so Callie with her friends have destroyed the gym. Callie was caught, her punishment was not only to be grounded but also to work at the gum with Millie. Her friends weren't there for her, they turned their backs away from Callie. Her boyfriend has broken up with her, Bryce thinks that Callie has become a different person and he didn't it.
Millie and Callie were forced to work together, then they start to have sleepovers with Millie's friends. They learned that Callie is not just a pretty girl who gets everything she wants. She is kind and funny, her mom was happy to see Callie changing.
One of my favorite quotes is, 'Find the things you love and so them every day, even if it means failing. That's all there is to it.' It shows how Millie didn't want to go to fat camp, she wants to be in front of a camera and to show the world she can do anything she wants.
So let's conclude, Millie is a positive plus size girl. She doesn't go to the fat camp, she wants to spend her summer to be journalism.
