I'll Be the One by Lyla Lee

As you may know, K-pop is becoming popular, there are boy bands like BTS, they are literally dominating the world of music with their brilliant talent of singing and dancing. We also have a girl group like Blackpink. And this is why this novel is perfect for the readers who love K-pop. Now I am the kind of a girl who prefers classic rock music and has never dance, but this book has taught me so many things.

Let's start with a summary, a girl name Skye Shin is a Korean girl, she got into a competition of both singing and dancing. Because of her size, not only her mom doesn't want her daughter to dance, there are people who think that plus size girls will never win the competition and she will prove them wrong.

The first aspect of this book is that Skye is a plus size girl, she faces so many challenges from her mum believing that Skye should only sing and not dance, then there is a judge who hated Skye being in the competition. She has friends and her dad to support her but at the same time, she gets reminded that she needs to quit. Skye didn't want that to happen.

The second aspect is Skye meets a guy named Henry, he is a model and participated in the competition. Everyone loves him and he gets attention all the time. And Skye got to know that the real person of Henry. He helped Skye, they danced together and spent so much time together. So the readers will learn of what it's like to be popular but at the time still wanting to prove to the world he can do.

The third aspect is her mom. Her mom wants Skye to sing but what she doesn't want is Skye to wear bright clothes and dance. Her mom does watch her daughter dance on the internet and she is proud but she doesn't want Skye to be teased of her body. Her dad is the opposite, he gets excited when he sees Skye dancing and encourages her to follow her dreams.

The first quote I want to talk about is "FAT GIRLS CAN’T DANCE." That is the first sentence in the book, this is the sentence most people kept saying. Skye wants to show them how wrong they are.

"DANCE ALWAYS HAS A FUNNY EFFECT ON ME." This is from chapter three, I love the way Skye expresses her love for dance. It feels as though she travels to another world where it is just her and dance.

To conclude, the book is about a plus size girl proving the world she can dance.
